2008 Duet - Sonoma County - Philip Staley Vineyards & Winery
Duet is a California version of a Graves style Bordeaux Blanc, a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Philip first made this wine in the mid-80s when it quickly developed a cult following. The heart and soul of the wine are the two wonderful vineyards from which it is sourced: Richard Rued's small Semillon vineyards in Dry Creek, and Kent Richie's Poplar Vineyard on the Russian River. Contracts for both vineyards had remained with Philip's previous winery when he left, but he told both growers that if their grapes ever became available, he dearly wanted to work with them again. They did, and Duet was reborn.
The nose is full of aromas of melon, pear, and ripe fig with the characteristic grassiness of the Sauvignon Blanc. This light, crisp wine is exceptionally refreshing and also the perfect foil for seafood, especially oysters. It drinks beautifully now, but will gain complexity over the next two to three years.

2007 Sauvignon Blanc - Russian River - Philip Staley Vineyards & Winery
This Sauvignon Blanc comes from Kent Ritchie's Poplar Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. This is a richer, riper style Sauvignon Blanc, with a nose of sweet fruit followed on the palate by layers of citrus flavors from lemon curd to orange blossoms. Pair this wine with seared Day Boat scallops served with a tropical fruit salsa.

2007 Semillon, Dry Creek Valley - Philip Staley Vineyards & Winery
Semillon is a varietal used in the white wines of Bordeaux and provides the base for the finest Sauternes in the world. In California, Semillon is occasionally used to provide some richness in Sauvignon Blanc, but rarely bottled on its own. Phil Staley loves to take on unusual varietals, and with this Semillon he has produced a wine with a pretty nose of honeydew and key lime pie. On the palate the wine has zippy acidity perfectly suited to deep-fried oysters or grilled halibut with a lemon beurre blanc.
Price: $20.00 Siblings Clubs: $17.00 / Generations & Most Favorites Clubs: $16.00
2009 Viognier - Russian River Valley - Philip Staley Vineyards & Winery
Viognier, the classic white varietal of the grand Condrieu appellation of France northern Rhone Valley, makes a truly distinctive white wine. The exotic aromas and flavors of the Viognier grape are prominent in this wine, from pineapple to peach and apricot, along with a pleasant seam of herbs and an intriguing minerality that makes it the perfect partner for everything from seafood to Honey-Glazed Herb Roasted Chicken.
Price: $24.00 Siblings Clubs: $20.40 / Generations & Most Favorites Clubs: $19.20
2008 Sangiovese Rose, Dry Creek Valley - Philip Staley Vineyards & Winery
TA New release crisp, dry and uniquely Sangiovese
2008 Grenache - Russian River Valley - Philip Staley Vineyards & Winery
This succulent wine is a product of meticulous work in the vineyard where each year Philip Staley thins half the crop, assuring a low yield of 3.5 tons per acre. At the winery, he has tailored a special regimen for the Grenache, including a cold soak of whole clusters and whole berries prior to fermentation. This Grenache has broad, inviting aromas suggesting rose petals and black pepper. Red fruit cranberry and strawberry flavors are fresh and forward.
2007 Syrah - Russian River Valley - Philip Staley Vineyards & Winery
Philip Staley has the reputation for producing a Syrah that tastes like the full-bodied, Syrah-based wines of the Northern Rhone Valley. This Syrah, blended with small amounts of Grenache and Viognier, has a deep ruby color and aromas of plum, tar, and pepper. Full on the palate, the wine has a firm structure, seamless balance, and a silky texture. Meaty, flavorful dishes of beef, lamb, or game match well with this intense wine.
